Yu-Gi-Oh! (1998) - Episodes 13-27 and Movie (END)

Complete Series Batch

CW for Episode 19: This episode gets really transphobic.

We got it all done earlier than expected, so here's the rest of Yu-Gi-Oh! (1998!) ahead of schedule. :)

In this set, we get some of the best episodes of the show (14, 17, 20, 21, and 25-27), the most Inoue (15), and the worst (19). We've also included the half hour long theatrical movie for this series, just titled "Yu-Gi-Oh!", which originally aired in theaters alongside the original Digimon Adventure short movie. Yes. The one with Giant Agumon.

We apologize in advance for the video quality of episodes 24-27 and the movie; our tapes of these are in bad condition and in the case of 24-27 the tape had massive sync issues and the film was unusable at all for large portions. As mentioned in the initial blog post for the series, we were able to work around the sync issues by using a Retrotink 5X for capture, but that presents the interlaced fields in a way that gave us some deinterlacing issues... (They're designed for use with video game consoles, not VHS tape archival.) For the movie, we just gave up and used a bootleg DVD source that seems to originate from the laserdisc release. (This is still letterboxed, our earlier comment about it being anamorphic during the first blog post on the series was from the encoder's memory and in error.) The film does have 5.1 surround, at least?

We'll be back in two weeks with the series release torrent. If you spot any errors before then, we'd appreciate it if you send them to us in the comments here or on Mastodon or Cohost so we can fix them. :)

Thanks to GX_st, TV-Nihon, ERankedLuck, ImpatientRaws, and Yugipedia editors for the materials used in this release! 🙂
